We had a visitor to our Forest School today, a little mouse. We watched him run around and tried to think about what he might eat. Ali guessed “stick” and Jacob said “a flower”. We tried lots of different things although what he liked the most was cheese and a tiny piece of bread!
We used our pumpkin as inspiration to paint some lovely orange masterpieces today. One little girl (2016.17.61) painted a circle for her pumpkin and told her key person “it’s circle”. We even began to paint on to our pumpkin!
Our orange play dough was perfect for modelling pumpkins. After lots of trying we decided the best way to make a play dough pumpkin is to roll the play dough around and around. We made lots of pumpkins of all different sizes.
While reading the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears we have become very interested in their porridge. One little boy told me “I didn’t have porridge before” and he asked me “why she eat it?”. Another boy told me “I don’t like it. My mum has it”. We thought it would be a good idea if we tasted some porridge just like Goldilocks.
This morning we made a shopping list and set off to Tesco to buy some porridge. When we got back to school we ate some porridge for our snack. Some of us liked it and some of us didn’t. One little girl said “it’s all gone like baby Bears bowl”.
Today we had a strange object hiding under the material. We tried to guess what it was, we thought it might be a football. When it was revealed we saw it was a pumpkin. The pumpkin was very interesting, we touched it, smelt it and we decided it was orange. When one little boy picked it up he told everyone “it’s heavy!”. I wonder what we will do next with our pumpkin?
We had our first trip to Forest School with Mrs Hopkins in today. There were so many things to see. We spotted a spiders web that had been made sparkly from the foggy weather. Mrs Hopkins showed us a clever trick to catch the web. Using black paper we carefully caught the web. Next we sprinkled some sugar over top to make the web glittery. We had lots of fun exploring and we even found a snail! Forest School is very exciting, we can’t wait to come back.
During out door play we spotted a worm and we stopped to have a look. It was very interesting watching the worm and we wondered where he might go, maybe to the shops? We noticed that ther worm was wiggling and that’s how he moved around. We watched him until he went in to the grid and down into the water.
