One of our little boys had the fantastic idea of digging for treasure in our sand tray. We added telescopes and magnifying glasses to make us in to real pirates and help with our search.

After we had collected some treasure we laid it out to inspect it with the magnifying glass. We even did some counting.

Moo music visited nursery

We had lots of fun singing and dancing with Laura when Moo music came to school

We made music while we sang together

And then we looked for food for our special visitor

But he didn’t like bugs so we gave him some sandwiches instead

after that we made him milkshake

And then we said goodbye to our new friend and Laura from Moo music

“I’m writing, I’m wiping”

We love being outside on chilly days, today we got wrapped up and used the paint brushes to paint with water outdoors. We enjoyed finding different surfaces to paint on and using different methods like dabbing and splatting.

“I’m writing, I’m writing” (2016.17.66) one boy tells me. He then goes on to say “snake” while he’s mark making and encourages me to join in saying “Manda do snake”. Then when he’s finished he paints over his marks and tells me “I’m wiping. Wiping it”.

Creative Pumpkins

We used our pumpkin as inspiration to paint some lovely orange masterpieces today. One little girl (2016.17.61) painted a circle for her pumpkin and told her key person “it’s circle”. We even began to paint on to our pumpkin!

Our orange play dough was perfect for modelling pumpkins. After lots of trying we decided the best way to make a play dough pumpkin is to roll the play dough around and around. We made lots of pumpkins of all different sizes.
